On July 18, 1914, the Escher Tageblatt commented on the founding of the "Party of the Right" and wondered why this name had been chosen instead of the more common "Catholic Party": "We are left to speculate until some historian writes the party's history. And that will probably take some time."
Indeed, it would take until 1974 before the first history of the Right Party-CSV appeared: E. Schaus, Origin and Achievement of a Party: Right Party and Christian Social People's Party 1914-1974.
This commendable work, which retains its value—it is frequently cited by the authors of this book—was, however, written from the perspective of the party's leadership.
